Having opened in 2016, the Cultural Art Center in Liangzhu Village, designed by legendary Japanese architect Tadao Ando alongside a Culture Museum by David Chipperfield, has now been photographed by Zheng Shi. The images reveal the way that Ando has used concrete and natural light — two common features of his work — for the space.

The center is made of up of three separate “boxes” — one containing a theatre, one with a library and one with a gallery — which are covered and connected by one large roof. All three sections of the building feature floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing light to flood in and allowing views over the surrounding pools and natural scenery.
