The world's only factory-painted Matte Nero Opaco 2004 Ferrari Enzo is heading to auction through RM Sotheby's private 'Sealed' platform

Originally ordered by a member of the Royal Family of Brunei, the ultra-rare hypercar has logged just 5,763 miles

The vehicle boasts Ferrari Classiche certification and recently underwent a €110,000 EUR restoration at Carrozzeria Zanasi

The hypercar market is currently defined by pristine archival examples, but few machines carry the sheer exclusivity of the 2004 Ferrari Enzo currently surfacing for sale. Offered directly through the RM Sotheby’s ‘Sealed’ sales platform, this specific chassis stands in a league of its own as the only Ferrari Enzo to be painted in Matte Nero Opaco from the factory. Commissioned well before stealthy non-gloss finishes became a dominant automotive trend, the unique matte aesthetic was originally ordered by a member of the Royal Family of Brunei. Upon completion, the one-of-one build was delivered new to the royal family’s residence in London, cementing its origin story among the world’s most expansive private collections.

Since its time in the royal fleet, the matte black hypercar has embarked on a documented global journey. After leaving the royal family’s collection, the vehicle was sold to a private buyer in New Zealand. Its next major move occurred in 2022, when the car was sold at auction by RM Sotheby’s for an undisclosed amount and relocated to Canada. Now returning to the block, the 2004 Ferrari Enzo is once again being offered through the exclusive ‘Sealed’ platform. Because the car is being sold via this private format rather than a traditional public auction, the eventual sale figure will remain strictly confidential.

To ensure the hypercar remained in flawless aesthetic condition, the vehicle was sent to the renowned Carrozzeria Zanasi in Europe in 2022 for a comprehensive restoration. That restoration cost more than €110,000 EUR, which translates to approximately $127,700 USD. The extensive overhaul included replacing the front and rear headlights, swapping out the rear bonnet glass and addressing the interior’s sticky switches. Most importantly, the six-figure process culminated in a full respray in the car’s original Matte Nero Opaco paint. The upkeep continued into late summer, as in August 2024 the car received a brand-new clutch, replacement fuel pumps and a fresh left-side valve cover gasket to guarantee its readiness for the next custodian.

Beyond its factory finish and royal provenance, the vehicle boasts an impeccable mechanical pedigree and officially features Ferrari Classiche certification. The high-performance coupe preserves its original chassis, engine, transmission and bodywork while remaining true to its initial specifications. Furthermore, the vehicle has currently been driven just 5,763 miles, or exactly 9,274 kilometers. This minimal road time arrives at a crucial moment for the market as collector interest in low-mileage Ferrari Enzos has surged dramatically, with recent examples surpassing the $10 million mark.
