In its closed configuration, the DualPlay Mini behaves like a standard handheld, with familiar controls flanking the screen for on-the-go play. Flip it open and a built-in keyboard appears, turning the same unit into something closer to a compact laptop for email, documents and everyday tasks. The pitch is that one device covers both play and work without a user ever reaching for a second machine.
That convertible layout also reshapes how games get played. Pairing the built-in keyboard with a Bluetooth mouse, sold separately, opens the door to a proper keyboard-and-mouse configuration, the setup competitive first-person shooter players tend to prefer over thumbsticks. The bigger context is a handheld PC market that has grown fiercely competitive since Valve’s Steam Deck reframed the category, with ASUS, Lenovo and others crowding in soon after. Rather than compete purely on raw power, Acer is betting on form factor, using the 2-in-1 concept to carve out a lane the current field has largely left open.
