Ford has officially announced a safety recall affecting 565,911 Ford Bronco and Bronco Raptor vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2026. An official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) filing stated that the recall addresses a defective engine bay wiring harness that presents a potential engine fire hazard.
According to the official report, the affected wiring harness lacks adequate abrasion protection. Movement against other engine components can cause the wires to wear down, resulting in exposed wiring that creates a short circuit, extreme heat, or a spark inside the engine bay. Drivers may experience warning signs such as smoke entering the cabin air vents, visible flames near the passenger side of the engine compartment, or digital cluster warning messages.
While Ford has identified 15 potential incidents related to the issue across standard Broncos and Bronco Raptors, the automaker estimates that roughly one percent of the recalled population contains the actual defect. Dealerships will resolve the issue free of charge by installing convolute and abrasion tape to reinforce the wiring harness.
Ford will officially notify affected owners by mail between August 24 and August 28, 2026, while drivers can check their vehicle status immediately via the NHTSA recall portal using their VIN or license plate number.
