Summary

  • Angelus unveils the Instrument de Mesures, a chronograph combining telemeter, pulsometer and tachymeter scales
  • It features a 39mm steel case, multi‑layer dial and manual‑wind A5000 caliber
  • Limited to 25 pieces per dial, priced around $22,000 USD

Angelus has introduced the Instrument de Mesures, a sophisticated monopusher chronograph that unites three essential metrological scales in a single design. Drawing from its rich heritage of crafting highly practical tool watches, this new release follows the success of recent models like the 2023 Chronographe Médical, the 2024 Instrument de Vitesse and the GPHG-winning Chronographe Télémètre.

Housed in a slender 39mm stainless steel case with twisted lugs and a box-shaped sapphire crystal, the reference maintains an elegant, vintage-inspired silhouette while prioritizing absolute utility, allowing wearers to seamlessly calculate distance, heart rate and speed. To integrate a telemeter, a pulsometer, and a tachymeter alongside a standard minute track without creating visual clutter, Angelus developed a meticulous three-dimensional dial architecture.

The dial is precision-crafted using innovative laser-cutting techniques to create distinct levels: a domed center, a sloping intermediate section, and an elevated outer periphery. Each function is assigned a distinct color code and occupies a specific tier: the telemeter sits at the outer edge, the pulsometer rests on the angled mid-section and a spiral tachymeter measuring speeds from 20 to 500 km/h anchors the center. The chronograph is operated entirely via a single pusher integrated into the crown, ensuring straightforward, intuitive functionality for the wearer.

At the heart of the Instrument de Mesures is the in-house A5000 manual-winding caliber, a movement that faithfully honors traditional chronograph watchmaking with its classical column wheel and horizontal clutch system. Visible through the sapphire case back, the movement boasts a 42-hour power reserve and striking high-end finishes, contrasting palladium-treated chronograph elements against a 3N gilded main plate.

The Angelus Instrument de Mesures is priced at 18,400 CHF (approx. $20,600 USD) and is released in two highly exclusive limited editions of just 25 pieces each — one featuring an ebony-black dial and the other an ivory-white dial, both outfitted with vintage-inspired syringe hands and premium calf leather straps.
