Leica and Xiaomi have officially introduced the Leica Leitzphone, marking the camera manufacturer’s first international smartphone release. Designed to bridge the gap between classic photography and modern mobile imaging, the device translates Leica’s signature aesthetic and optical expertise into an everyday driver.
Visually, the smartphone adheres to a minimalist design language, utilizing a black fibreglass rear panel bordered by a knurled metal frame and finished with the iconic Leica red dot. A defining hardware feature is the mechanical camera ring, which offers physical, tactile control over zoom, exposure, ISO, and shutter speed, while also allowing users to switch between custom Leica Looks.
Internally, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform built on a 3nm process, supported by 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The visual experience is anchored by a 6.9-inch Xiaomi HyperRGB OLED display boasting a 1-120Hz LTPO refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3500 nits. At the core of the Leitzphone is its advanced triple-camera system. The setup includes a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch sensor utilizing LOFIC technology to expand dynamic range, alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 75 to 100mm optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. Powering the system is a 6000mAh battery that supports 90W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge capabilities.
