Rolls-Royce has announced a major expansion of its bespoke operations with the introduction of the Coachbuild Collection. The new ultra-luxury program will allow select clients to commission highly customized, one-of-one vehicles. In a significant cultural shift for the historic British marque, the inaugural model in the Coachbuild Collection will be fully electric, utilizing the architecture of the Spectre grand tourer.
According to Rolls-Royce CEO Chris Brownridge, the initiative was developed in response to demand from loyal customers who not only want a unique flex but also wish to be intimately involved in its creation. Participants will be invited to global private offices to collaborate on bespoke designs that will never be repeated. The ownership journey will unfold over several years, granting buyers exclusive access to behind-the-scenes development stages, including extreme climate testing and private meetings with master artisans.
The transition to an electric powertrain for its coachbuilt cars marks a heavy departure from Rolls-Royce’s recent one-off creations, such as the Sweptail, Boat Tail, and Droptail. Those previous bespoke models were all powered by the brand’s signature 6.75-litre V12 engine. More details regarding the first electric Coachbuild Collection model are expected to hit the timeline in April 2026.
