Both Netflix and Ubisoft confirmed that filming has started in Italy, with the storied Cinecittà Studios in Rome serving as the primary production hub. The massive project is utilizing the studio’s established ancient Rome backlot to authentically capture the historical setting.
The upcoming series promises an original storyline separate from the video games, locking its coordinates on 64 AD. History enthusiasts will recognize this era as the reign of Emperor Nero, culminating in the devastating Great Fire of Rome. The narrative will explore the franchise’s enduring secret war between the Templar Order and the Assassin Brotherhood, who each battle to shape humanity’s future. This timeline notably predates the events of the Italy-based Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood by over a millennium.
To bring the epic to life, a large ensemble cast has been assembled.
