Summary

  • Inter Miami announces a section of their new Nu Stadium will be named the “Leo Messi Stand”
  • The honor makes Messi a rare active player to regularly compete in a stadium with a stand named after him
  • Nu Stadium will open its doors for its first match on April 4

Inter Miami CF has officially announced that a prime section of their newly minted, state-of-the-art Nu Stadium will be christened the “Leo Messi Stand” in honor of their 38-year-old captain. The dedicated seating area will span sections 117 through 121 in the lower bowl and 217 through 223 in the upper bowl.

The move shatters sporting traditions that typically reserve such stadium honors for retired legends. In an official statement, the club emphasized that the tribute is “born from the present” and meant to recognize the unprecedented cultural and athletic impact Messi has had on the franchise while he continues to dominate on the pitch. Messi will become part of a rare global sporting phenomenon by actively competing in front of a stand bearing his name.

Since his monumental arrival in South Florida in 2023, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has completely transformed the trajectory of Inter Miami. Setting the gold standard, he is the club’s all-time leader in both goals and assists, recording 82 goals and 53 assists across all competitions. Under his leadership, the squad has claimed historic hardware, including the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, the 2025 Eastern Conference title, and the 2025 MLS Cup, while he became the first player in league history to secure back-to-back MVP honors.

The Leo Messi Stand will officially debut when the 26,700-capacity Nu Stadium opens its doors for its inaugural match on April 4. The club has promised that fans seated within the special section will be treated to surprise-and-delight moments designed to elevate the unmatched matchday atmosphere.
