Holthinrichs Watches is marking its 10th anniversary with the SIGNATURE LAB Series 1.S and 1.GMT, two highly experimental and limited-edition timepieces. Founded in 2016 by Michiel Holthinrichs, the Netherlands-based independent brand has pioneered the concept of “Horlogerie Brut,” which juxtaposes raw, 3D-printed textures with refined, high-end artisanal hand-finishing. These new releases pay homage to the brand’s very first creation, the Ornament 1, while elevating the complex optical layering and patination processes first introduced in the RAW Ornament Bronze.
Both the 1.S (sub-second) and 1.GMT feature copper oxide patina dials, manufactured entirely in-house through a delicate process of engraving, controlled patination, heat treatment and selective hand-brushing. The SIGNATURE LAB 1.S boasts deeply carved, radiating lines that strongly emphasize its sub-second register in an almost Art Deco style, creating a dramatic visual effect where deep azure-blue oxides contrast with higher brown-green nuances.
Meanwhile, the SIGNATURE LAB 1.GMT introduces an even more elaborate multi-layered relief, featuring a subtle azimuthal projection of the globe viewed from the North Pole, complemented by brushed brass Breguet-style GMT indicators.
Housed in a 38.5mm Grade 5 titanium case, the LAB Series defies conventional design logic with exceptionally thin, curved lug structures made possible through advanced 3D metal printing. Each case takes up to 48 hours to print and undergoes extensive manual finishing. Powered by modified, top-grade Sellita movements (SW360 for the 1.S and SW330 for the 1.GMT), the true mechanical highlight is the hand-carved, heat-treated tungsten rotor, which is scraped to achieve subtle blue and purple tones that mirror the expressive dials.
The Holthinrichs SIGNATURE LAB 1.S is priced at €5,900 EUR (approx. $6,400 USD), while the LAB 1.GMT retails at €6,500 EUR (approx. $7,050 USD), both limited to 100 units each. Available now through the brand’s official website, with first deliveries expected to begin in Q3 2026.
