Summary

  • Engineered Garments’ FW26 collection blends nostalgic outdoor styles with modern functional details, featuring tweed capes, matching suiting, and military-inspired layers.

  • A neutral palette is energized by clashing leopard and camo prints, mixing traditional wool “performance fabrics” with contemporary nylons and bold, colorful fleeces.

Engineered Garments‘ FW26 collection has arrived, taking a cozy direction with layers of outdoor styles from different periods in history. From camouflage and military-inspired styles to tweed capes and suiting, the brand embodies the cozy feelings of nostalgia without compromising its meticulous attention to functional details.

With a neutral brown palette, the pared-back colors are injected with energy by clashing patterns and textures: various checks and plaids, leopard print, and an enlarged camouflage,  as well as corduroys and speckled knitwear. Pops of bold color come from a red and navy floral fleece and a bold primary yellow found in outerwear and accessories.

Where some looks feel undeniably contemporary, especially the denim and workwear-forward numbers, others feel as though they could have come from an antique photo. A fully matching gray Donegal suit (including the tie) was worn with a complementary cape hanging over the shoulder. Elsewhere, brown wool trousers and a matching hunting jacket were worn with a fur-lined overcoat and a tall wool hat.

Despite the contrast between the brand’s more streetwear sensibilities and its tailoring inspirations, the styling evokes a consistent outdoor theme. Before strong, water-resistant nylon and other synthetic fibers came into mass use, tweed and other wool fabrics were indeed the first “performance fabrics.” However, the two live side by side in Engineered Garment’s latest collection, along with its patterned fleeces and colorful crochets.
