For the sneaker community, the Air Jordan 6 “Infrared” is more than just a shoe; it is the physical manifestation of Michael Jordan’s transition from scoring champion to NBA champion. While the silhouette has seen various iterations since its 1991 debut, Jordan Brand is delving into its vault for the 35th anniversary to release a version that remained a myth for nearly three decades.
The Air Jordan 6 Infrared “Salesman” draws direct inspiration from a 1999 seasonal catalog sample that never reached retail. This specific model distinguishes itself with an expansive application of the Infrared hue across the midsole – a bold departure from the standard color blocking. To achieve historical perfection, the design team reverse-engineered the exact pigment by comparing 1991 and 2000 pairs side-by-side.
Beyond the color, this release introduces a refined shape that mirrors MJ’s personal on-court pairs. This includes a modified internal bootie for a sleek toe box and a tongue height raised by 2mm. The attention to detail extends to the packaging, which features factory hangtags and internal sample text to mimic the original “Salesman” previews. Check out the official images above and look for the pair to arrive in mid-February.
