Theophilio Spring/Summer 2026 Brought the Rhythm of the Caribbean to Brooklyn
Island vibes emanated throughout the entire range, which experimented with memory and movement through color, sound and contrasting textures.
Theophilio’s Spring/Summer 2026 show, Riddim, brought the essence of the Caribbean to Brooklyn. The designer presented a collection imbued with a carefree island spirit — an homage to his heritage, which he intentionally wove into the fibers of the entire range. Thompson shared that the collection was inspired by long drives with his friends, and the colors and textures of the destinations that have transformed him. It’s about those moments that you can’t really describe or tangibly capture, but his work gets as close to replicating those feelings as one could imagine.
The collection, which the designer labeled a “visual mixtape,” consists of graffiti-sequined swim, printed mini dresses, matching printed co-ord sets and satin tracksuits radiating the Jamaican-American designer’s signature carefree attitude and warmth. A striking primary color palette of amber yellows, reds and blues drew the audience’s eyes in, but bold patterns and colorblocking kept our gazes focused. As each piece descended the runway, Thompson expanded his wearable biography — crafting yet another love letter to the colorful culture that raised him.
The range was just the right amount of campy — showing off pieces made to command the spotlight on a sweaty, crowded dance floor — while also offering ensembles that had a laidback energy fit for the beach. Button-ups were styled scantily unbuttoned, and sparkling Speedos were paired with airbrushed body paint — Riddim isn’t exactly for the modest dresser, but Theophilio’s style codes have always manifested in bold statements.
Tying the show together, the designer also paid homage to Caribbean dancehall beats by backtracking the show with pulsing rhythms and fitting a few models in Nothing headphones. Puma Mostro sneakers and slinky pointed-toe boots were the final touches to the tropical-tinged range.
