Nordic design brand Pedestal has partnered with Dutch ceramic artist Willem van Hooff to create a limited collection of “Ceramic Power Gems.”
Van Hooff is celebrated for his expressive ceramics, which blend primitive techniques with contemporary design, drawing inspiration from historical objects and traditional craftsmanship. Pedestal, on the other hand, is known for its playful use of color and its embrace of modularity, architectural, and minimalistic forms that elevate interior spaces. This collaboration merges Pedestal’s high-performance power modules with van Hooff’s raw, textural ceramic work, resulting in sculptural objects that are both industrial and earthy in expression.
The “Ceramic Power Gems” collection challenges the traditional idea that power solutions must be concealed, transforming functional design into a bold aesthetic statement. Kristian Fæste, Pedestal’s brand manager, describes the collection as “something both industrial and expressive, something that earns its place in the room.” Van Hooff adds, “This collaboration gave me the opportunity to shape something rough and handmade around a precise, engineered core.”
