Maison Margiela broadens its Sprinters sneaker collection with four new color combos. Prices range from $820 – $875 USD, the new lineup includes a refreshing lemon yellow with blue option, kiwi green with blue, as well as new black-and-white and white-and-gray iterations. Additional colorways – dark green, light blue and oxblood - are also previewed, but are confirmed for a later release sometime in July.
At first glance, the silhouette appears to pay homage to the Nike Moon shoe, which was originally designed for the 1972 Olympics. Margiela’s Sprinters adopt a sleek, low-profile silhouette reminiscent of the Moon Shoe’s distinctive shape, but with its signature avant-garde touch. The block-colored upper combines a mish-mash of textures and finishes, spanning everything from smooth calfskin, suede to vintage-processed nylon and rubber. This is paired with cleated gum soles, complete with the brand’s signature stitch on the pull tab and a numeric label on the tongue.
