TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS Celebrates 20 Years of the Roland SP-404 Sampler

TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS has teamed up with Roland to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the legendary SP-404 sampler.
The collaboration features features a selection of apparel and accessories highlighted by Roland’s signature colors. Joining the capsule are T-shirts that feature a Roland chest logo and co-branded details on the back, the SAMUEL collaboration tee with an illustration of the SP-404 MK II and another piece with the machine on the back. Closing out the collection are branded caps in black denim and gray, as well as canvas tote bags.
Roland’s original SP-404 was first released in 2005 and was succeeded by several versions such as the SP-555, the SP-404SX, the SP-404A and, most recently, the SP-404 MKII. The sampler has since become a staple in hip-hop — notably for the production of the lofi hip-hop genre — with artists such as Madlib, Flying Lotus and J Dilla utilizing the machine for their work.
