Porsche is celebrating its pioneering role in electric mobility with a new exhibition at Curvistan Bangkok titled Electrifying Past. Present. Future., curated in collaboration with Stefan Bogner. The retrospective explores the brand’s innovations from the early 1900s to today’s high-performance electric vehicles.

At the heart of the showcase is the Porsche 919 Hybrid, the cutting-edge endurance racer that dominated the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and Le Mans. Launched in 2014, the 919 Hybrid was a technological marvel, featuring a two-pronged energy recovery system that transformed braking and exhaust energy into electric power. With a 900 hp hybrid powertrain, it not only redefined Porsche’s racing success but also laid the groundwork for its modern EVs.

The exhibition also highlights Porsche’s early electric experiments, including the Lohner-Porsche from 1900, the world’s first electric car with wheel-hub motors. Notably, the design DNA of these wheel-hub motors can be found in the Porsche Taycan Turbo S Mission E-style wheels — which may be a direct nod or coincidence. Other landmark innovations on display include the 918 Spyder, a plug-in hybrid hypercar that shattered Nürburgring lap records and the Taycan, Porsche’s first all-electric sports sedan that set new benchmarks in EV performance and charging technology.

It’s also worth noting that this is not the first time the Porsche 919 Hybrid has visited Bangkok, with its initial visit taking place in 2015 during its world victory tour. The endurance racer made a very memorable pass through Chinatown, which can be seen in the video below. For those in Bangkok, the 919 and overarching exhibition will be on display for a limited time, with Curvistan’s doors open to the public for all to come and check it out.
