Was Loewe FW25 A Lovely Goodbye?

This season, the brand opted out of a traditional runway show as many wonder about Jonathan Anderson’s alleged next move.

A sizzle reel and no runway shows? Many are wondering what’s happening over at Loewe. This season, in lieu of a traditional runway show on the Paris Fashion Week calendar, Loewe opted to show a co-ed presentation. Leading up to the event, creative director Jonathan Anderson posted what seemed like a highlight reel celebrating the “best of” his nearly 12 years at the brand.

To add fuel to the fire, Jonathan Anderson’s namesake label also forewent London Fashion Week despite being a usual big name on the calendar. It’s all enough to set the rumor mill ablaze. While no official statement has been made as of yet, the Loewe presentation continued without a hitch.

The FW25 collection was showcased like a museum exhibition inside Karl Lagerfeld’s former historic home on Rue de l’Université. Though the designer was not present himself, his editorial touch remained loud and clear. The presentation included a textile collaboration with the Albers Foundation. The geometric works of artists Josef and Ani Albers were gorgeously translated into woven overcoats, skirts, and bags. Pieces of the iconic Puzzle Bag were broken down for display, again prompting reminiscing of Anderson’s greatest hits.

The collection was filled with vibrant and elongated silhouettes. Oversized suits were dressed down with baggy over-the-knee boots. The boots were also paired with oversized baseball tees-turned-ponchos and matching leather trenches. For men, mannequins donned mohair hoodies and baggy trousers lounging across chairs featuring a myriad of sensibly relaxed footwear.

To cap it all off, Loewe will be traveling to Tokyo from March 29 to May 11 for its next installation of Crafted World.
