Kendrick Lamar Could Be Involved in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Although it’s not for another three years, the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics could feature the involvement of none other than Kendrick Lamar.

Casey Wasserman, the rapper’s booking agent and the Olympics’ organizing committee chairman, told The Associated Press that Dot — a Compton native — could participate in the 2028 event one way or another. “Fortunately in my day job I represent Kendrick Lamar,” he said. “He is truly an LA icon so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that Kendrick will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way.”

He further shared that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is aiming to help rebuild the city of Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires. “The rebirth, the rebuild, maybe reimagining LA 2.0 — and the Olympics as a catalyst for all those things — we think is really part of our ethos,” Wasserman shared. “You can’t have a natural disaster at that scale in a city as big and as important as Los Angeles and not have it be part of your core philosophy going forward.”

“Everyone loves a comeback story,” Wasserman told the IOC, further stating that they got “very lucky” from an Olympics perspective as the venues and operational plans were not seriously damaged. “That’s not the most important thing. What’s important is helping people get back into their homes, get back settled, get back with their lives.”

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is set to take place from July 14, 2028 to July 30, 2028, with a total of 36 sports expected to join.
