B&B Italia Reinvents Comfort and Sustainability With Tufty-Time 20

B&B Italia is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its iconic modular sofa with the launch of Tufty-Time 20, a refined evolution of Patricia Urquiola’s original design.

Since its debut in 2005, Tufty-Time has remained a hallmark of modern furniture design, seamlessly merging traditional tufted aesthetics with a highly adaptable modular system. Over the years, it has gone through several iterations, including Tufty-Time in leather, Tufty-Too and Tufty-Time ‘15. Now, with Tufty-Time 20, B&B Italia introduces a version that refines the seating experience while expanding its design potential.

Comfort has been further enhanced with increased padding and seat height, creating a more supportive and inviting seating experience. A thick layer of recycled polyester, positioned between the polyurethane and fabric, adds a plush, cushioned feel. The addition of a curved module broadens the system’s possibilities, allowing for flexible configurations that encourage face-to-face interaction and communal engagement.

Sustainability has been a core focus of the redesign. The entire structure has been engineered for complete disassembly, ensuring that each component can be reused or recycled at the end of its lifecycle. This move reinforces B&B Italia’s commitment to responsible design and the principles of a circular economy.

To mark this milestone, Tufty-Time 20 debuts a new wool chenille fabric with a bouclé effect, adding tactile sophistication to the collection. Complementing the seating system, B&B Italia has also introduced a coffee table series made from oak wood or anodized aluminum. Designed to integrate seamlessly with the sofa’s modular elements, these tables enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
