Uniqlo to Launch Sci-Fi Anime UT Collection This Spring
Featuring iconic characters and mecha from ‘Evangelion’ and ‘Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.’
After confirming UT collections for Uzumaki and Gundam’s 45th anniversary, Uniqlo is also preparing a special release of graphic tees featuring two of the most iconic sci-fi anime in Japan — Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Hideaki Anno’s Evangelion.
A total of four designs are offered, comprising one black and one white style from each of the IPs. The black variant for Ghost in the Shell STAC features a sketch of a Tachikoma – a spider-type combat vehicle – from Section 9 alongside the anime’s title. Meanwhile, the white option showcases a light green line drawing of Motoko Kusanagi, accompanied by one of her quotes: “If you’re dissatisfied with the world, change yourself.“
As for the Evangelion tees, the white version shows the title of its 2012 film, Evangelion: 3.0 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO on the front, while the back is emblazoned with a red graphic starring EVA Unit-02. The black tee features an eye-catching design on the front instead, spotlighting all three iconic EVA units in full-color print, accompanied with white lettering.
Pieces from the sci-fi anime UT collection are all priced at ¥1,990 JPY (approx. $13 USD) and will be available via Uniqlo in mid-May.
