To mark ten years of the beloved forest spirits known as THE MONSTERS, the 10th Anniversary Global Tour – MONSTERS BY MONSTERS: NOW AND THEN – is opening at the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre. Running from December 15, 2025 to January 4, 2026, the Hong Kong stop, sponsored by HSBC, follows successful runs in Shanghai and Taipei, offering an immersive journey into the fantastical world of LABUBU and friends.
A decade ago, artist Kasing Lung drew inspiration from Norse mythology to create LABUBU and THE MONSTERS series, laying the foundation for their iconic imagery through works like his Fairy Trilogy. Today, these whimsical creatures have transcended borders, evolving into global cultural symbols that resonate emotionally with contemporary trends.
The touring exhibition embraces the theme Now and Then by transforming the venue into an enchanted forest where fantasy and reality merge. Visitors can trace the artistic origins of the series by exploring Lung’s precious sketches and richly layered original artworks. The exhibition features themed zones, including a Designer Toys Zone documenting LABUBU’s evolution, and an Interactive Zone spotlighting the POP MART collaboration. For Kasing Lung, who emigrated in his youth, this event is a poignant homecoming, celebrating the characters who remain central to his creative life.
