Acclaimed Belgian-Moroccan photographer Mous Lamrabat is set to launch his latest exhibition, “Moustalgia,” in partnership with WeTransfer’s arts platform, WePresent, on November 7. This highly anticipated show pays homage to the vibrant, monolithic pop culture that reigned supreme in the 1990s, from boybands and grunge to Power Rangers and MTV.

Known for his unique visual dialogue between seemingly opposite worlds, Lamrabat draws on his bicultural identity to blend the aesthetics of ’90s pop culture with imagery rooted in North Africa and the Middle East. “Moustalgia” is a natural extension of this vision, challenging cultural norms and celebrating hybridity through humor, beauty, and subtle provocation.

The exhibition reimagines traditional North African garments, symbols, and textures through the playful lens of ’90s colors and motifs. Shot primarily in Senegal with local artists and communities, the images are a joyful hybrid and a true celebration of cultural fusion and nostalgia. Lamrabat describes it as his personal journey back to a time of fun and mischief.

The exhibition will open at Protein Studios Shoreditch in London, with public viewing on November 8 and November 9, before traveling to Faces Gallery in Marseille later in November. The work will also be viewable online.
