Issey Miyake and Apple Unveil the iPhone Pocket

The long-awaited collaborative effort from Issey Miyake and Apple is finally here. Introducing the iPhone Pocket, a 3D-knitted rectangular holder for your daily essentials — including your iPhone, of course.
The iPhone Pocket is inspired by the concept of “a piece of cloth” and featured a ribbed open structure, similar to that of Miyake’s own Pleats Please. Crafted in Japan, it serves almost as an additional pocket, big enough to fully house an iPhone but can also expand for other essentials. The open textile can allow users to stretch it out for a subtle peek at their iPhone’s display and the contents of the bag.
The collaborative piece is offered in two version: a short strap, which can be placed around the wrist or tied onto bags, or a long strap that can be worn around the shoulder or as a cross-body. Users can choose from a playful color palette, with the short strap available in eight colors and the long strap in three.
“The design of iPhone Pocket speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user, while keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be universal in aesthetic and versatile in use,” shared Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director of MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO. “iPhone Pocket explores the concept of ‘the joy of wearing iPhone in your own way.’ The simplicity of its design echoes what we practice at Issey Miyake — the idea of leaving things less defined to allow for possibilities and personal interpretation.”

Its recognizable silhouette offers a beautiful new way to carry your iPhone, AirPods, and favorite everyday items.”
The iPhone Pocket drops November 14 at select Apple Store locations and via the Apple webstore. The short strap is priced at $149.95 USD and the long strap at $229.95 USD.
