sacai has proudly announced an exclusive collection in collaboration with Los Angeles-based contemporary artist Mungo Thomson. Launched to coincide with Thomson’s solo exhibition, Walking Pictures, the capsule seamlessly integrates his striking artistic vision with sacai’s innovative product designs.
The collection’s central motif is derived from Thomson’s TIME Mirror piece, which is famously inspired by the simple yet profound observation, “Time happens in the mirror.” This symbolic graphic features the iconic red frame and logo of the artwork, printed across a selection of unisex items.
Design enthusiasts will appreciate the subtle integration of Thomson’s collage of TIME magazine covers and the sacai logo in the upper right corner of the main graphic. This collage motif also makes an appearance on the linings of jackets, blousons and a specific T-shirt style, adding a subtle yet unexpected detail.
The highly anticipated Mungo Thomson x sacai collection will be available for a limited period at Isetan Shinjuku in November. For those shopping from afar, the pieces will also be available online via the Mitsukoshi Isetan online store starting November 15.
