The luxury resort group Aman is expanding its presence in Japan with the highly anticipated launch of Aman Niseko on the island of Hokkaido. This serene destination, scheduled to open in 2027, will be the brand’s fourth property in Japan and is being positioned as the country’s first full spa and wellness retreat.

Aman Niseko will be situated exclusively on the high slopes of Mount Moiwa, nestled within an untouched nature reserve. The design, by the late Kerry Hill Architects (responsible for Aman’s other Japanese properties), draws heavily on the traditional ryokan (Japanese inn) aesthetic. Interiors are a calming blend of wood, stone, and glass, designed to frame spectacular forest and mountain views, and feature private Furo bathtubs and onsen facilities in each of the 30 guest suites.

Wellness is a major pillar of the resort. An expansive Aman Spa will offer Japanese-inspired therapies, including both indoor and outdoor onsen hot spring pools, Finnish saunas, and Watsu chambers. Beyond the 30 suites, the property will also feature 31 exclusive Aman branded residences, the only development on the mountain. The resort promises a seamless blend of winter activities, such as ski-in/ski-out access to Niseko’s renowned powder, with year-round escapes focusing on hiking, cycling, and cultural immersion.
