  • The exhibition explores transformation and identity through bold, pop‑art‑rooted works inspired by 1960s sports advertising aesthetics
  • It also features a Coffee Supreme collaboration with limited-edition merchandise

GALLERY TARGET in Tokyo is set to present BECOMING, a solo exhibition by Barcelona-based painter Adriana Oliver. Marking her first show in Japan in four years, the exhibition explores the concept of transformation as a continuous state of “becoming” rather than a singular event.

For BECOMING, Oliver uses the visual language of 1960s sports advertisements – characterized by vibrant colors and graphical compositions – to reconstruct modern narratives around identity and selfhood. In this context, sports serve as a metaphor for discipline, repetition, and the internal process of shedding past identities in favor of growth.

The exhibition positions sport not as competition but as a metaphor, reflecting themes of discipline, repetition, endurance, collapse, and renewal. Each artwork captures the invisible effort preceding meaningful change, portraying the inner process of shedding past identities. Through striking compositions and refined color palettes, Oliver’s pieces embody both strength and fragility, offering viewers a contemplative space to reflect on transformation as an ongoing state rather than a singular event.

BECOMING will run from March 5 – 28, 2026, at GALLERY TARGET and is complemented by a collaboration with Coffee Supreme, offering limited‑edition tote bags and drip coffee sets that further extend the exhibition’s themes into everyday culture.
