After almost a decade, Stadium Goods is officially closing its New York City store. The location has been a staple on 47 Howard Street in the heart of SoHo, becoming a haven for hard-to-find and coveted sneakers on the market.

The sneaker consignment company’s senior vice president and general manager spoke to Footwear News and shared, “The lease term was coming up and we decided not to renew. Our business is primarily through digital channels, so that’s where Stadium Goods is focusing investment to drive growth. But in the meantime, we’re planning to transform our market center at 412 Broadway so that we can both intake new products from sellers and offer an elevated retail experience in the same space.”

Having opened on October 16, 2015, the Lower Manhattan store founded by John McPheters and Jed Stiller was renovated seven years later in February 2022 that included an entrance at 305 Canal St. and an expansion to 2,860 square feet of space, giving more room for consumers to shop. Stadium Goods was acquired by Farfetch Limited for $250 million USD back in 2018 and now the e-commerce luxury platform has been purchased by South Korean company Coupang just last year for $500 million USD. As Stadium Goods focuses on e-retail, it remains to be seen how the company grows but it marks the end of an era with the closure of their SoHo store.
