Tiffany & Co. Welcomes You Aboard Tiffany Airways With $42k USD Mechanical Clock
The clock was modeled after a 1930s airplane.
While Tiffany & Co. is best known for its diamond jewelry, the brand also puts out a line of elevated home goods. For the latest addition to its “Time Objects” collection, the clock-specific arm of the line, the brand has touched down with the Tiffany Airways mechanical clock.
Constructed out of stainless steel painted Tiffany Blue, the 6.6 lb (3 kg) with the baseAirways clock is modeled after airplanes from the 1930s. The clock uses a skeletonized approach to form an exposed cockpit, juxtaposing the elegance of the piece with its industrialized mechanics.
Two steel disks at the nose of the plane rotate to display the hour and minute, powered by mechanics located within the plane’s engine, as an arrow in the cockpit points to the current time. The Airways clock also features a “TCO” monogram on the wing, functioning wheels and a propeller that can be rotated by hand.
Tiffany offers two ways to display the clock: it can stand on its two wheels or be fixed to a base to imitate the look of the plane in a mid-air flight.
The Tiffany Airways mechanical clock is priced at $42,000 USD and is only available in-store or by contacting a client advisor.
