Ultra-Rare Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0 Surfaces
One of only 55 examples built to homologate the Carrera 3.0 RSR — up for auction via RM Sotheby’s.
An exceptionally rare 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0, one of only 55 ever built, is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s. The renowned auction house stated that this model, produced to homologate the Carrera 3.0 RSR, is considered the best-preserved example available today. It retains its original numbers-matching engine and gearbox, finished in Grand Prix White with distinctive Gold lettering and a Midnight leatherette interior.
Originally used as a factory demonstration car, this Carrera RS 3.0 boasts a fully documented history. It was initially exported to the United States by its first owner, Sydney Butler and later acquired by Charles Stoddard, a prominent early Porsche dealer. Stoddard maintained the car meticulously, ensuring it was never raced or exposed to inclement weather. After nearly two decades, the car changed hands and eventually joined the prestigious White Collection in 2017.
This Porsche has been preserved with a focus on maintaining its original condition, including factory-corrected paintwork and rims. With just over 18,000 miles on the odometer, it remains an outstanding example of Porsche’s engineering excellence. RM Sotheby’s estimates that the vehicle will sell for as much as $1,800,000 USD, with bidding set to begin August 15 as part of its Monterey Sale.
