Kobe Bryant’s personal locker from the Staples Center is up for auction at Sotheby’s. The locker was used by Bryant throughout the majority of his tenure at the Los Angeles Lakers, beginning in 2003 and spanning until his final game in April 2016.

Following Bryant’s retirement, the locker was inherited by Brandon Ingram. In 2018, the entire locker room was set to be dismantled as part of renovations at the Staples Center. A maintenance worker recognized Bryant’s locker and saved it from being discarded.

The locker was later acquired by a collection in a private deal. That same collector, however, already owned Bryant’s nameplate, allowing it to be affixed once again to the locker.

“Kobe Bryant’s locker at the Staples Center is more than just a piece of memorabilia; it’s a sacred relic of his unparalleled journey,” Sotheby’s Head of Modern Collectables Brahm Wachter said. “This locker was Kobe’s sanctuary amidst triumphs and challenges, a witness to the highs and lows of a storied career. Every achievement and hardship left its mark within these walls. Its appearance now at auction symbolizes a rare opportunity to own a unique piece of Kobe’s legacy.”

Bryant’s locker will be on view at Sotheby’s New York gallery between July 26 and July 30. The locker is estimated to fetch between $1 million USD and $1.5 million USD and is open for bidding now as part of Sotheby’s sports-themed ALTITUDE | Capsule Collection online auction.
