Spotify’s Long-Awaited HiFi Plan Could Launch This Year
The streamer first announced its HiFi plans in 2021.

Spotify announced a high-fidelity subscription plan – higher quality audio, albeit, at a cost – back in February 2021. In the ensuing years, it appeared that the concept had been scrapped, as Spotify deleted its announcement post and failed to actually deliver a HiFi option.
The streamer has, however, continuously raised costs for its subscription plans. Just last week, Spotify announced price hikes for the second time in a year across its Individual, Family and Duo plans.
Just as users may have a reason to make the jump to another streamer, Spotify is reported to be gearing up to finally introduce HiFi, according to Bloomberg. The publication reported that HiFi streaming is expected to roll out by the end of the year, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Spotify will reportedly charge customers to add HiFi to their additional plans. Regardless of the plan they’re enrolled in, HiFi will cost an additional $5 USD, per Bloomberg.
That means a user on the Individual plan paying $11.99 USD will now have to pay $16.99 USD a month for high-quality music.
By comparison, Apple and Tidal offer HiFi built-in to their streaming and both charge $11 USD monthly.
