Belstaff and Merrell 1TRL’s Debut Collab is Rooted in a Shared Passion for the Outdoors
Dropping the Ontario Speed and Hydro Moc in rich mineral hues.
In its 100th year of crafting all-weather goods, Belstaff has been looking to its past to deliver an array of purposeful garments reimagined for modern-day life. Supplementing its latest clothing collections, the brand now releases a two-part footwear capsule with hiking label Merrell 1TRL.
For their first collaboration together, the two brands draw on their cult status in the outdoors scene. Simultaneously channeling Belstaff’s British heritage as well as Merrell 1TRL’s association with American hiking, the resulting capsule celebrates a shared commitment to outdoor exploration with two premium-crafted silhouettes.
The first shoe in the drop, Merrell 1TRL’s high-performance Ontario Speed hiking sneaker, adopts an elevated design that switches up from its originally utilitarian aesthetic to a more refined look. Across the body, the brands introduce a soft suede upper which is combined with durable panels of nylon ripstop and leather for added functionality. Making up the base unit, Merrell 1TRL implements its trademark FloatEco foam into the midsole and a Vibram outsole, giving the sneaker a lightweight but sturdy quality. To finish, Belstaff’s logo is stamped onto a rubber tab which is sewn onto the tongue.

Meanwhile, the on-trend Hydro Moc shoe takes direct inspiration from Belstaff’s iconic Castmaster vest in its latest reimagination. Playing on the garment’s assortment of pockets, the brands incorporate a useful pouch on the outer side of the removable sock. The technical feature is complemented with a drawcord that intertwines through the holes of the EVA upper. Like the Ontario Speed, the Hydro Moc iteration features a Belstaff branded rubber tab on the side strap.
Continuing to weave in references to Belstaff’s recent collections, the shoes come in a rich color palette of “Mineral Green” and “Cloud Grey”. As well as giving off a sleek and contemporary look, the neutral tones offer a camouflage quality, allowing wearers to be a chameleon to their outdoor surroundings.
