X To Create NSFW Communities on Its Platform
For adult content, groups are said to only be available to users “who have specified their age.”

X formerly known as Twitter, has confirmed plans of creating NSFW communities. Plans of Elon Musk‘s social media platform planning to test out NSFW adult content communities have recently surfaced and now the company has confirmed Community admins now have a chance to set an “Adult Content” label for their settings so that they can avoid having their content auto-filtered.
According to X, all NSFW content will be filtered across all communities down the line. X’s communities are essentially smaller groups of users who see their own feed based on certain interests, outside the general timeline, similar to that of subreddit-groups. These spaces are often dedicated to “adult content,” and play a major advertising venue for sex workers. Engineer Dong Wook Chung posted on X the upcoming changes set to be made in regards to the NSFW content on the app confirming the aformentioned, “Soon, NSFW content will be auto-filtered in all Communities. Admins can now set ‘Adult content’ in Settings to avoid auto-filtering of the content.” Bloomberg also reported that they had seen signs of X moving towards providing “adult-sensitive” content. Currently, X allows for nudity and other “graphic” content to be shared, but it just does not show in certain parts of the app.
In another post, the X engineer clarified that NSFW content will only be available to those who have their age in their profile, “To be clear, this setting is about making Communities safer for everyone by automatically filtering out NSFW content. Only users who have specified their age will be able to search Communities with NSFW content.” Stay tuned for the update.
