X Has Set Its Sights on a Smart TV App
A one-stop shop for all of its original content.

Elon Musk has been angling for X to become users’ go-to source for not only text posts but also video content. Last year, X introduced their ability to livestream on the app and has rolled out a few original shows, largely from political commentators.
In its latest push for video content, X will be coming out with a streaming app for smart TVs. It seems that the platform is once again gearing up to roll out original content, along with a new app under which to house it.
“Soon we’ll bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs with the X TV App,” CEO Linda Yaccarino wrote in a post. “This will be your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen.”

Yaccarino also shared that the app will use an AI algorithm to curate the latest trending videos and will categorize content according to subject. It’ll also offer a cross-device streaming experience. Users watching a show on their phone can pick up right where they left off on their TV and vice-versa.
While Yaccarino says X is “still building” the app,” X has gained a reputation for failing to deliver on the original content Musk had promised. Just a few months ago, Musk had brought on several political commentators to host original shows on X, yet canceled former CNN anchor Don Lemon’s series before it even aired its first episode.
