Snow Peak, the Japanese “outdoor lifestyle creator” known for its high-quality camping equipment, thoughtful apparel and use of elevated materials ranging from titanium to fire-resistant aramid fabric, has opened the Long Beach “Campfield,” its first campsite in North America. Located between Seattle and Portland on the Washington coast’s Long Beach Peninsula, the campsite offers a trio of accommodations across its 25-acre expanse: “Jyubakos” micro cabins designed by the famed architect Kengo Kuma, pre-built “Tent Suites” and from-the-ground-up “Field Sites.”

Of the three options, the “Jyubakos” is the most luxurious, with a queen-sized bed, private bathroom and kitchenette. Boxy and minimalist, each bathes its interior in natural light and can sleep up to two adults and two children. The “Tent Suite” provides a more direct camping experience, where potential campers arrive to a fully set-up Snow Peak camping experience, complete with tents, tables, fireplaces and grill tables. If you’re looking for the most close-to-nature experience, the “Field Sites” offer a variety of sizes and locations, with guests able to choose the tents and accouterments they need for their group, then set everything up themselves.

The centerpiece of the “Campfield” experience is the Campstore, a large store-slash-lounge at the center of the compound with a sizable communal area, beverage bar and selection of Snow Peak goods available for purchase. In early summer, the “Ofuro Spa,” a spa inspired by traditional Japanese onsens (hot springs), will open with both hot and cold pools plus a sauna made of temple-grade hinoki cedar.

Summer and fall reservations for the Snow Peak “Campfield” in Long Beach are open now, and the “Juybakos” will be made available at the start of July. For booking and pricing information — and to learn more about the available experiences — head to the Snow Peak website.
