For the first time in its history, COS arrived in Rome last week to premier its Spring/Summer 2024 mainline and Atelier collections. Taking place in Corsie Sistine – a restored 15th century hospital with walls enshrined in vast frescos – the brand’s debut Italian show was a breathtaking affair as this season’s dynamic silhouettes and contemporary cuts landed at the heart of the historic venue.

To celebrate COS’ debut, London-based models and fashion’s proclaimed it duo Flag Twins take Hypebeast around the city in the lead up to the runway. Although the event fell on a gray and rainy day, twins Kevin and Karlon reveal the beauty of the capital city from its must-see monuments to the sleek-designed venues.

In preparation for the show, the twins start the day with a pamper session in the hotel before getting dressed in a versatile outfit that will carry them through their day’s activities into the main event. For Kevin, this is a two-piece leather jacket and pants set taken from COS’ SS24 collection, while Karlon selects an embroidered white shirt from the lineup with complementing white pants. As per their signature style, the looks reveal a contrasting monochromatic, yin-yang vibe that sets them apart from the stereotypical matching twin aesthetic.

Heading into central Rome, the pair take the opportunity to check out the Trevi Fountain, an iconic landmark in the Italian capital city. Similar to the grand statues of ancient deities and rulers, they strike a majestic pose at the viewing point for a series of fit pics. A trip to Italy isn’t complete without a generous helping of pasta, so Kevin and Karlon make their way to a nearby trattoria to refuel before walking to the afternoon event.

Inside the venue of COS’ SS24 showcase, a translucent wall is erected around the bottom half of the interior, sectioning the historic hall from the fashion show. As the twins take their place on the front row, the runway commences and a number of crisp, white billowing shirts float past the pair and closely observing guests. The softness of these garments is then interspersed by slinky tailored looks, achieved with collarless blazers and boxy short-sleeved shirts. In a similar style, the Atelier pieces propose a fluid adaptation of classic looks, seeing fishtail skirts, hooded blouses, and maxi dresses move elegantly across the runway.

The main highlight, however, proves to be the wide-leg trousers of the Atelier collection. Boasting fine craftsmanship in its complex pleating as well as an artistic statement that can be seen in a close-up look of the garment’s hand-painted edges, the piece delivers a visual depth that stands out in the range. As the spectacle draws to a close, Kevin, Karlon, and the rest of the attendees share their favorite outfits over an aperitivo, discussing which looks they’d be snapping up this season.
