The TV series adaptation of Harry Potter is currently scheduled to make its Max premiere in 2026.

Variety reports that the announcement was made by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav during the company’s Q4 earnings call. “We’ve not been shy about our excitement around Harry Potter,” he said, also reminding analysts that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the eight and final film in the Daniel Radcliffe-led movie series, premiered more than 12 years ago.

The exec also revealed that he, HBO and Max content boss Casey Bloys and Warner Bros. Television chairperson Channing Dungey were all in London a few weeks ago to discuss the TV show with Harry Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling. “We spent some real time with J.K. and her team,” Zaslav stated. “Both sides are just thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max.”

The forthcoming show will feature a total of seven seasons, each of which will cover one book in Rowling’s book series. The main cast is yet to be announced.
