Those who have grown fond of FootJoy‘s NRG releases in the last few years can rejoice once more. LA-based Metalwood Studio has returned to put its own creative spin on a brand new silhouette called the Premiere Series Field LX.

Last year Metalwood and FootJoy cooked up one of the most unexpected collaborations in recent memory. Sure, the OG golf shoe company FootJoy has been reorienting itself in the last few seasons towards more fashion focused players through teaming up with menswear specialist Todd Snyder and footwear designer Jon Buscemi. But with a streetwear aesthetic that brings to mind neighboring LA skate and streetwear labels, Metalwood Studio represented a bolder proposition. The result was the “Above Snakes” design, a western-inspired take on a classic saddle shoe complete with faux snakeskin.

This season sees the two brands take a more restrained approach for a shoe that has been dubbed “The Executive.” One might even venture to call it business casual. As mentioned, the collaboration lands on the Premiere Series Field LX, which is a new variation of FootJoy’s popular Field. The pair, which features a brown wicker-looking mudguard atop a light full grain leather upper, is shot in an office setting and styled with misfitting jackets and slacks that look they were picked from Goodwill. Various friends of the brand are seen practicing their swing in front of water coolers and fax machines, providing commentary on the historical relationship between golf and corporate America.

Like last year, the brand will host a launch event on February 12 during the week of the Genesis Invitational at its storefront in Los Angeles. Limited stock will be available there and then online on Metalwood Studio’s website the following day.
