LeBron James continues to leave it all on the court, game after game. After his 11th game of his 22nd year in the NBA, King James is hinting at his retirement timeline. Having accomplished one of his greatest goals, making history with his son Bronny James in becoming the league’s first father-son duo to share the court, the Los Angeles Lakers star is envisioning the future.

Turning 40 next month, the basketball player is still putting up an average of 4.3 points, 9.4 assists and 8.1 rebounds on 52% shooting from the floor, leading the Lakers to a 7-4 season at the moment. Post-game against the Memphis Grizzlies on November 13, James gave a thoughtful answer regarding his potential retirement timeline. He said to press, “It’s not me, it’s the mind. Wherever my mind is is how the rest of my body’s gonna go or whatever the case may be. I don’t know, I’m not gonna play that much longer to be completely honest. I don’t know how many years that is, if it’s one year, two years, whatever the case may be.” He added, “But I said the other night that I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not gonna be that guy. I’m not gonna be the guy that’s disrespecting the game because I want to be out there on the floor. That’s not gonna be me.”

The Lakers take on Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on November 15. Watch James’ give his answer about his retirement timeline below.
