AIAIAI Announces 'World's First Wireless DJ Headphones', Launching Early 2025
The new TMA-2 DJ Wireless uses the brand’s proprietary W+ Link transmitter for an ultra-low latency connection.
AIAIAI is launching what it says are the “world’s first wireless DJ headphones,” announcing the TMA-2 DJ Wireless due for release in early 2025. The new headphones mark the second “world first” from the Danish brand which, earlier this year, launched the AIAIAI Unit-4 Wireless+ portable studio speakers.
While there’s no shortage of wireless Bluetooth headphones you could use theoretically use to DJ, what makes the TMA-2 DJ Wireless noteworthy is the ultra-low latency wireless technology that AIAIAI has built into them. With Bluetooth there’s an unavoidable level of lag (delay) that varies depending on the codec your device uses, milliseconds that make all the difference for a DJ trying to beatmatch between songs. AIAIAI gets around this with its new headphones by using its ultra-low latency – or, lag-free – W+ Link transmitter, a wireless dongle it has previously included with its TMA-2 Studio Wireless+ studio headphones that provides the closest experience to being plugged in, only without the wires. That said, the TMA-2 DJ Wireless headphones can connect both via Bluetooth 5.2 or indeed by cable, giving users the ultimate choice between the three different connectivity options.
The headphones feature a respectful 25-hour battery life, allowing DJs to go longer between charges and alleviating any anxiety around the headphones dying in the middle of a set. They weigh just 217 g (0.47 lbs), a conscious choice by AIAIAI to keep the lightweight and comfortable over long use periods. And they include a USB-C port for charging, as well as a mini-jack port to support a wired connection between the headphones and a source device.
AIAIAI is launching the TMA-2 DJ Wireless in early 2025 and users can sign up now to stay updated. The headphones will retail for £250 GBP / $280 USD / €300 EUR.
