After rolling out its much-anticipated 3XL Trainer Mule in June, Balenciaga has returned with another round of awkwardly-proportioned footwear offerings from its hotly-discussed Summer 2023 runway, “The Mud Show.”

First up, the Demna-led label has released the 3XL Sneaker, which offers a highly exaggerated take on a typical running shoe with an enlarged sole and an ultra-wide shape. Employing technical mesh in a number of scales, the shoe boasts an unusual texture that contributes to its illusory finish. Beneath thick, elasticized laces, the sneaker’s edges and surfaces appear to contract and expand in organic shapes. The inventive shoe comes in a number of colorways, including black/white, red/white/blue, yellow, grey and multitone.

In addition to the sneaker, Balenciaga has posted its new 3XL Sock Shoe, hybridizing the stretch knit upper of the Speed line with the massive rubber sole on the flagship 3XL. Merging these two concepts, the silhouette possesses a uniquely-identifiable facade, with an ankle-hugging top layer and an outsized sole that engulfs its wearer’s foot on all fronts. Notably, the 3XL Sock Shoe is made in black knit with white tread and a miniature logo etched onto the front upper component.

Balenciaga’s 3XL Sneaker and 3XL Sock Shoe are now available to shop on the brand’s webstore for $1,090 USD and $1,080 USD, respectively. Take a closer look at both shoes in the gallery above.
