Los Angeles-based Montalba Architects recently unveiled the newly renovated Nobu Hotel Palo Alto and its specially curated garden restaurant.

Synonymous with Nobu’s quintessential aesthetics, the new look primarily focuses on reimagining the entry experience for guests. The gate, fitted with oil-rubbed bronze offers a glimpse into the garden restaurant from the sidewalk. The path from the entrance to the hotel is gently illuminated, allowing guests to immerse in the picturesque and tranquil space.

Located on the ground floor, the freshly unveiled garden restaurant is surrounded by a serene and Japanese-inspired landscape. Conceptualized by Shigeru Namba, the 4,100 ft² zen-filled space upholds an urban and minimalistic appeal, while lush botanical arrangements, a full-room skylight, and garden decor infuses traditional flair that’s reminiscent of Ryokans.

In an official Instagram post by Montalba Architects, the firm elaborates that “specially-selected boulders from Japan were individually and sculpturally positioned by Shigeru Namba to enhance the spatial qualities of the garden, while native, drought-tolerant ground cover with Japanese-inspired specimen plantings accent the garden offering pedestrians a physical and visual respite.”
