Jorja Smith Drops Album Title Track "Falling or flying" With Self-Directed Music Video
Also unveiling her upcoming album’s full tracklist.
Jorja Smith has officially released “Falling or flying,” the title of track of her upcoming record due on September 29.
The single arrives after last month’s “GO GO GO” and features an accompanying music video that marks Smith’s directorial debut. She noted that the visual “came to mind ’cause I always wanted to shoot a video in space,” and that the track “just made me think of that. I wanted to go up into space with someone I love and cherish, but they didn’t want to come with me.” Dom Mckiernan of Stink Films, who produced the video, added, “Jorja is equally as impressive behind the camera as she is in front of it. Incredibly considered, quick thinking and just such a positive vibe throughout. Jorja had a clear idea of what she wanted and could communicate it to the crew cohesively whilst also being really collaborative and open to figuring out the best way to crystalise her vision together with the crew.”
Smith also unveiled the tracklist of Falling or flying, which will feature guest appearances from the likes of J Hus and Lila Iké. “I like this world that I’ve just come into. And I’m still figuring things out. Always figuring things out.” she explained of the upcoming record. “This is the first time I’m putting stuff out there that I can connect with right now.”
