Sweden Is Set To Build the World's Largest Wooden "City"
To be located in the middle of Stockholm.

Sweden is set to build an entire wooden city in the middle of Stockholm in 2025.
Swedish real estate company Atrium Ljungberg has recently announced that it will be commencing construction on the largest wooden city in the world, scheduled to be completed by 2027. The city will encompass over 60 acres of land and will be offering up to 7,000 office spaces and 2,000 homes in Sickla, also known as the souther part of the Swedish capital of Stockholm. The project is slated to be a dynamic urban mix that intermingles housing, restaurants, shops and workplaces to create its own community.
The developments will feature a Scandinavian style aesthetic. Since the city will be constructed out of wood, it will decrease construction time while also reducing the climate impact of buildings by up to 50%. The city is ready to focus on self-produced, stored and shared power that aligns with Sweden’s sustainability goals. For the city dwellers, it offers the inner city more workspaces in the south, reducing commuting times. For every tree that is cut down for the project, at least two new ones will be planted to ensure that there is sustainable application to the building plans. The first buildings of the Stockholm Wood City are expected to be done in 2027. Stay tuned for more information.
