For those who may have been eyeing the F-150 Lightning but were potentially dissuaded by its price, Ford has significantly slashed the cost of the electric pickup. Previously set at $59,974 USD, the pickup is now going for $49,995 USD.

The automaker attributed the reduction to increased capacity at its production plants, along with scaling production and an improvement in the cost of raw materials. In addition to the vehicle itself, trim prices have also been slashed. The XLT trims went from $9,479 USD to $8,479 USD.

“Shortly after launching the F-150 Lightning, rapidly rising material costs, supply constraints and other factors drove up the cost of the EV truck for Ford and our customers,” Chief Customer Officer of the Ford Model e Marin Gjaja said. “We’ve continued to work in the background to improve accessibility and affordability to help to lower prices for our customers and shorten the wait times for their new F-150 Lightning.”

Ford also said it would be temporarily closing its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan to undergo upgrades, which will aid in scaling F-150 Lightning production by three times this fall, with a target of 150,000 trucks.
