dunhill SS24 Is the Epitome of Quiet Luxury
Attire fit for your favorite Mayfair member’s club.
dunhill is a byword for Great British sartorial excellence, and today it lays the foundations ahead of Simon Holloway’s debut Fall/Winter 2024 collection with a Spring/Summer 2023 presentation designed by the in-house team.
It’s signature dunhill, but elevated with elements of modernity and classicism combined. It’s rich in British cues and formality, traditions, heritage, and status symbols, yet feels light and, above all else, the epitome of the TikTok craze that is “Quiet Luxury.” SS24 is for those in the know; a collection that’s fit for meandering Mayfair, alfresco lunches in the Riviera, and for cozying up at your favorite aristocratic member’s club.
dunhill achieves this mixture of elegant moments with pieces like the Cigar Jacket, earning its name from the multiple pockets added to the formal number designed to specifically hold a cigar (or two). Only its shape isn’t formal, instead opting for a cut of a cardigan with a softly folded collar, perfectly tailored shoulders that curve around the torso, and a slightly elongated, comfortable length.
This relaxed nature is echoed by dunhill’s choice of ribbed knitwear, styled with silk scarves, and trousers that are cut down the middle to give a wide-fit, belted in suede that folds over and adds a louche sense of ease. Of course, dunhill does amp up the formalities with suits informed by bespoke tailoring techniques, a tuxedo, and blazers ranging from double-breasted and pique jersey, to suede and a fine midnight wool barathea evening jacket.
However, it’s the contemporary reworkings of traditional codes that make the biggest impact for SS24: a dunhill signature, the Car Coat, now appears in reversible navy puppy tooth worsted wool. The elongated edition is even more transformative, arriving in water-resistant wool in “Vicuña.”
