Marvel Studios' 'Blade' Delayed Once Again Due To Writers Strike

Production was set to begin next month in Atlanta.

Marvel Studios’ elusive Blade film is experiencing yet another delay, this time due to the ongoing Writers Guild Association (WGA) strike.

According to reports, the title has shut down pre-production just shortly before production was set to begin in Atlanta next month. Writer Nic Pizzolatto, who joined the project in April prior to the contract deadline of WGA, was in the midst of rewriting the original script from Michael Starrbury and unfortunately could not finish the rewrite when the strike began.

This marks another pause in the timeline of the Mahershala Ali-starring film; Disney announced in October 2022 that the reboot will be pushed to a September 6, 2024 release instead of 2023 after Bassam Tariq left the director’s chair. The studio found its new director in Yann Demange of Lovecraft County fame in November.

Stay tuned for more updates.

In related news, Stranger Things season five is also facing delay due to the strike.
