Herman Miller Launches New Asari Chair
Designed by Naoto Fukasawa.

Herman Miller has joined forces with Tokyo-based designer, Naoto Fukasawa, to launch their new Asari Chair.
Although adding to Miller’s furniture catalog, the new piece from Fukasawa takes a look at both form and functionality. Blending ergonomic structure and a soft form, the Asari chair was inspired by organic life in nature. As the chair’s name means “clam” in Japanese, these intricate details can be seen in the shape of the chair’s back – extending Fukasawa’s subtle sophisticated design philosophy.
“My goal was to inspire joy and create a new form, ultimately becoming the next upholstered icon,” says Fukasawa. “A core part of my design ethos is to simplify the way we live, imbuing each creation with an attraction that makes people feel dear to it, a timelessness and longevity that enhances a human process.”
Additionally, the chair comes in two back height options alongside eight color flood varieties ranging from goldenrod to teal. With a starting price of $1395 USD, the Asari Chair by Herman Miller is available in-store and online at Herman Miller and Design Within Reach.
