PROLETA RE ART and Foxtrot Uniform Craft One-of-One Air Jordan 1 With Boro Cloth

After creating a one-of-one UROBOS denim ensemble for WILDSIDE Yohji Yamamoto last year, PROLETA RE ART returns with a collaboration with vintage sneaker upcycler Foxtrot Uniform for a custom not-f0r-sale art piece combining the Air Jordan 1 with Boro cloth. Curating the project is none other than Poggy The Man.
“Vintage sneakers and Boro cloth have a special charm for us — it’s a love that might be unconditional,” the duo writes. “Despite what some may say about them being outdated, We see life in these shoes and Boro cloth. Their scuffs, creases, and tears each tell a unique story and only add to their beauty.”
Using a pair of Air Jordan 1 Retro High “Chicago” as the base, the collars, tongue, and medial panels are fitted with distressed blue paisley boro fabrics while the toe box integrates additional hits of red. Natural fading and wear-and-tear are visible across the leathers and PROLETA RE ART tabs are secured along the inner collars. The idea for sneakers takes inspiration from Kintsugi, a 15th-century Japanese philosophy of repairing with gold — bringing the vintage shoes back to life while celebrating their flaws.
